Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A governorship aspirant in Edo State, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has debunked a speculated rift between him and the former governor of the state and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole.<\/p>\n

Ize-Iyamu disclosed this in an interview on Arise Television\u2019s The Morning Show on Thursday monitored by DAILY POST.<\/p>\n

While describing the relationship as cordial, the former Edo APC governorship candidate said he was on good terms with Oshiomhole, who is now a senator.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will tell you categorically that we are on good terms. There is no quarrel between myself and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have worked closely throughout the party formation to begin to quarrel unnecessarily. The fact that we disagree does not mean that there is a problem. He has a strong personality, I also have that. So we are bound to disagree,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The ruling party fixed February 17 for the conduct of its primary ahead of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State.<\/p>\n

Reports surfaced that Ize-Iyamu was disqualified from the APC\u2019s primary by a screening committee allegedly constituted by Oshiomhole, a claim he has since refuted, saying that he is still very much in the contest.<\/p>\n

According to Ize-Iyamu, the decision as to who becomes the APC flag bearer is not a decision for \u2018one man\u2019.<\/p>\n

While saying that Oshiomhole is a highly respected party man, he noted the former Edo governor cannot decide who emerges as the APC governorship candidate.<\/p>\n
