Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The FCT Police Command has arrested another suspected kidnapper as its Special Intervention Squad takes more steps to protect residents.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner of Police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mr Haruna Garba, revealed this on Wednesday while briefing newsmen in Abuja.<\/p>\n

Garba said the suspect was arrested in Sauka village on January 21 and the kidnap victim was rescued, explaining that police operatives from Iddo Division received a distress call that some armed men in a black Toyota Corolla fired the tyres of a moving Prado jeep of one Suleiman Sabo.<\/p>\n

The CP said Sabo, who was going to his house in Sabon Lugbe, was forced to stop and was bundled into the kidnappers\u2019 vehicle, leaving behind his Prado jeep and his wife.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe effort paid off on Jan. 21 when the DPO received information that something abnormal was happening in a particular house in Sauka village.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe DPO moved in and cordoned the house; behold, the kidnapped victim was found with the suspect, armed with a Mark IV rifle and 10 rounds of live ammunition.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was promptly arrested, and the arm was recovered from him. The victim was rescued, but with gunshot injuries,\u201d the CP said.<\/p>\n

According to him, the victim has been admitted to the hospital and is responding to treatment, stressing that since the inauguration of the Special Intervention Squad, there has been no report of kidnapping in the Bwari axis of the FCT.<\/p>\n
