Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A High Court in Bauchi State has granted bail to Samaila Yusuf, the husband of a woman who accused a serving Deputy Superintendent of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Sani Mua\u2019zu, of rape.<\/p>\n

20-year-old housewife, Lubabatu Yusuf Samaila, a resident of Bauchi, had lamented the subsequent detention of her husband, after filing a rape complaint against Mua\u2019zu who happens to be her husband\u2019s benefactor.<\/p>\n

Recounting the incident which occurred on December 9, 2023, she detailed how Muazu assaulted her in her home, disregarding her pleas for him to stop.<\/p>\n

According to the victim, despite her resistance, he proceeded to assault her in front of her traumatized children.<\/p>\n

This is as the victim sought the intervention of Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun regarding her rape complaint against the Deputy Immigration Superintendent.<\/p>\n

The Presiding Judge, Justice L.K Umar, granted bail to Yusuf yesterday after 11 days of incarceration under Order XV Rule 4 of the Fundamental Human Rights (Enforcement Procedures) Rules 2009 of Section 45 of the 1999 Constitution.<\/p>\n

A human rights group, the African Child Development and Human Rights Protection, had approached the court for justice to enforce the section of the Constitution against the violation of the rights of Yusuf in suit No BA\/82M\/2024.<\/p>\n

The Country Director of the organization, Barrister Mohamed Alkassim, sought justice for Yusuf, who reported the rape incident involving his wife.<\/p>\n

Consequently, the Presiding Judge set February 29, 2024, as the return date for the Hearing of the Motion on Notice, involving the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State, and Muazu.<\/p>\n
