Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Anto\u0301nio Guterres, the United Nations Secretary-General, says countries worldwide must act towards phasing out fossil fuels.<\/p>\n

Guterres made this call while speaking over the weekend at the first International Day of Clean Energy celebration.<\/p>\n

He noted that phasing out fossil fuel was necessary and inevitable.<\/p>\n

Guterres added that clean energy is a gift, the whole world must embrace.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is my firm belief that fossil fuel phase-out is not only necessary but also inevitable. But we need governments to act, to accelerate the transition, with the biggest emitters leading the way,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Recall that at the COP28 Climate Conference held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the Summit officially gave a nod to the world\u2019s transition from fossil fuels.<\/p>\n
