Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ondo State Command, on Sunday said it is committed to prosecuting motorists engaging in overloading across the state.<\/p>\n

FRSC State Sector Commander, Mr Ezekiel SonAllah, gave the warning while speaking with newsmen after a lone accident that claimed one live and injured eight people on Saturday in the state.<\/p>\n

He said any driver caught with an overloaded vehicle would face severe punishment.<\/p>\n

According to him, the lone accident was caused by a burst tyre of an overloaded vehicle.<\/p>\n

The accident happened at about 4:12 pm at Amurin Junction along Owo\/Akure Expressway in Owo Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n

The FRSC boss explained that the vehicle, a Toyota Hiace with nine passengers on board, was involved in the fatal accident that claimed the life of one person on the spot.<\/p>\n

SonAllah said the victims had been taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, for treatment while the vehicle and its goods had been handed over to Uso Police Station.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a passenger, if you know that the vehicle is over loaded and you value your live, you don\u2019t need to enter such vehicle,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
