{"id":108897,"date":"2024-01-29T20:27:43","date_gmt":"2024-01-29T19:27:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/edo-2024-48-year-old-businesswoman-joins-race-to-succeed-gov-obaseki-3"},"modified":"2024-01-29T23:47:43","modified_gmt":"2024-01-29T22:47:43","slug":"edo-2024-48-year-old-businesswoman-joins-race-to-succeed-gov-obaseki-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/edo-2024-48-year-old-businesswoman-joins-race-to-succeed-gov-obaseki-3","title":{"rendered":"Edo 2024: 48-year-old businesswoman joins race to succeed Gov Obaseki"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A 48-year-old businesswoman, Edith Ihueghian Isokpan, has joined the race for the September 21, 2024 governorship election in Edo State.<\/p>\n<p>That Isokpan, a Master\u2019s Degree in International Law and Diplomacy holder, declared her intention to contest the governorship election on the platform of the African Action Congress, AAC, in Benin City.<\/p>\n<p>The aspirant, who said she was the solution to myriads of political and socio-economic challenges in the state, promised to be a direct link between the governed and the state government.<\/p>\n<p>Isokpan, while presenting her manifesto code-named the \u201cTreasure Agenda\u201d, noted that it was high time women were given a chance to govern the state as the successive administrations led by men had not done what was expected to transform the state to an enviable height.<\/p>\n<p>She opined that her desire to contest was borne out of a divine calling and not an ambition.<\/p>\n<p>She added that the state was highly blessed with abundant resources, rich in history and culture, which deserves to stand as a beacon for tourists but unfortunately, have not been tapped.<\/p>\n<p>The female governorship aspirant called on the people of the state to queue behind her so that the state can be placed on the pathway of development, having been dragged back for a very long time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEdo state belongs to everyone of us and we all must join hands to redeem it and place it in the path of progress again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am bringing on board honesty, integrity and prosperity.
