{"id":109116,"date":"2024-01-31T18:15:02","date_gmt":"2024-01-31T17:15:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/may-29-delivery-of-abuja-light-rail-sacrosanct-wike"},"modified":"2024-01-31T19:56:36","modified_gmt":"2024-01-31T18:56:36","slug":"may-29-delivery-of-abuja-light-rail-sacrosanct-wike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/may-29-delivery-of-abuja-light-rail-sacrosanct-wike","title":{"rendered":"May 29 delivery of Abuja light rail sacrosanct \u2013 Wike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far on the Abuja light rail project, reassuring that its delivery on May 29 is sacrosanct.<\/p>\n<p>The minister gave the assurances on Wednesday after inspecting the ongoing construction of access roads to the train stations from Metro Train Station in Central Area to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>The minister reassured journalists who accompanied him on the inspection tour that the rail project would be commissioned on May 29 by President Bola Tinubu to mark his one year in office.<\/p>\n<p>NAN reported that the stations visited are Wupa Station, close to Idu, and Bassanjiwa Station, close to the airport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is part of our routine inspection of ongoing projects to see what the contractors have been doing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are working day and night to see that we fulfil the promise we made to President Tinubu and residents of the FCT that by May, Mr President will ride on the Metro line.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to have access roads to the various train stations, because if you do not create access roads to the communities who will be using the train, then the aim is defeated,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The minister acknowledged the seriousness of the contractors\u2019 commitment to delivering the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have heard what the representative of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation said, that they will be working day and night to see that the project is completed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me, it is a major project so that it can reduce the influx of vehicles into the city.
