{"id":10937,"date":"2019-06-01T14:11:21","date_gmt":"2019-06-01T14:11:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=10937"},"modified":"2019-06-01T14:11:21","modified_gmt":"2019-06-01T14:11:21","slug":"shiites-reveal-reason-for-burning-us-israeli-flags","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/shiites-reveal-reason-for-burning-us-israeli-flags","title":{"rendered":"Shi\u2019ites reveal reason for burning US, Israeli flags"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), otherwise known as Shi\u2019ites, has set the national flags of the United States of America (USA) and Israel on fire during a protest in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Though the Shi\u2019ites have been protesting against the continued detention of their leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakyzaky, by the federal government, the burning of the flags of the two nations has nothing to do with El-Zakzaky\u2019s condition.<\/p>\n<p>Their action yesterday was in solidarity with the people of Palestine who are allegedly terrorised by the Israeli government with support from the USA.<\/p>\n<p>Abdullahi Musa, the Secretary of IMN\u2019s Academic Forum, told newsmen that the burning of the flags was a yearly ritual by Shi\u2019ites worldwide on the last Friday of the Muslim month of Ramadan as instructed by the leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, late Sheikh Khomeini.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cToday (Friday) is last of Ramadan and we burnt the flags in solidarity with the people of Palestine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Palestinians are being killed, their settlements are being destroyed, and forcefully occupied by the Jews.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, Imam Khomeini before he died, declared every last Friday of the month of Ramadan as a day to show solidarity to the people of Palestine.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), otherwise known as Shi\u2019ites, has set the national flags of the United States of America (USA) and Israel on fire during a protest in Abuja.
