{"id":109567,"date":"2024-02-04T21:16:12","date_gmt":"2024-02-04T20:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/grid-fully-restored-tcn-confirms-restoration-of-power-after-hours-of-blackout"},"modified":"2024-02-04T23:43:57","modified_gmt":"2024-02-04T22:43:57","slug":"grid-fully-restored-tcn-confirms-restoration-of-power-after-hours-of-blackout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/economy\/grid-fully-restored-tcn-confirms-restoration-of-power-after-hours-of-blackout","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Grid fully restored\u2019 \u2013 TCN confirms restoration of power after hours of blackout"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>After hours of a nationwide blackout on Sunday, the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has confirmed that the collapsed national grid has been restored.<\/p>\n<p>The grid, on Sunday, collapsed for the first time in 2024, causing power outage nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>A statement subsequently issued by TCN\u2019s Public Affairs General Manager, Ndidi Mbah, said the blackout followed partial disturbance experienced by the grid about 11:21Hours on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The statement noted that the incident affected the Ibom power islanded, feeding Eket, Ekim, Itu and Uyo transmission substations.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ndidi, the \u201cTCN initiated immediate restoration of the affected part of the grid, and presently, the grid is fully restored.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrior to the incident, the total generation on the grid was 3,901.25 MW at 08:00Hours, a little over three hours before the time of partial collapse\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The company, however, noted that low power generation has persisted since \u201cJanuary 2024, to date, exacerbating daily due to the lingering gas constraint\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to the National Control Center, NCC, the Internet of Things, IoT, revealed that just before the partial disturbance, which occurred at 11:21Hrs today, Sapele Steam &amp; Egbin Substations lost a total of 29.32MW &amp; 343.84MW at 11:20:14Hrs &amp; 11:20:17Hrs respectively, totalling 373.16MW.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis, combined with the current low power generation due to gas constraints, caused the imbalance leading to the partial system disturbance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGas constraints continue to impact grid flexibility and stability,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
