Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested four suspects for allegedly stealing six batteries from Airtel Telecommunications mast valued at N12 million.<\/p>\n

The Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Nwabuzor identified the suspects as Otete Emmanuel, Onya Ndubisi, Oliver Sodenyi and Okuru Benedict.<\/p>\n

He alleged that the suspects, who wore green reflective jacket, drove a white Toyota Hilux marked EPE 328 HY and packed at Imorta Filling Station along Benin-Agbor Expressway, Benin City.<\/p>\n

He explained that the suspects were arrested by operatives of Okhuaihe Divisional Police while responding to a distress call from the command\u2019s control room.<\/p>\n

The command\u2019s image maker, added that when the suspects\u2019 vehicle was searched and nothing incriminating was recovered from them.<\/p>\n

He disclosed that the distress caller, one Robert Daniel who reported the incident at the Okhuaihe Division, however, confronted the suspects that he saw them while stealing the six batteries.<\/p>\n

Nwabuzor said the suspects in their statements denied the allegations and any involvement in the incident.<\/p>\n

He said investigation has commenced and the suspects will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department Benin for discreet investigation.<\/p>\n
