Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, says it is exploring the possibility of transferring some of its units to Lagos, weeks after the controversial relocation of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, and departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to the city.<\/p>\n

NUPRC disclosed the planned relocation in a February 14 memo signed by the Executive Commissioner, Economic Regulation and Strategic Planning, Kelechi Ofoegbu.<\/p>\n

According to the Commission, the move is to enhance its service delivery, reduce operational costs and adequately utilize its assets in Lagos.<\/p>\n

In the memo, the Commission requested that supervisors submit units that could work independently with minimal supervision, before February 23, 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn line with our objectives of improving organizational efficiency, driving the industry\u2019s growth, and managing office accommodation in Abuja, we are exploring the possibility of relocating certain units to Lagos.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is driven by the need to enhance our service delivery, reduce operational costs and adequately utilize our assets in Lagos.<\/p>\n

\u201cConsequently, we are requesting that each Department identify and provide a list of units that can operate independently with minimal supervision.<\/p>\n

\u201cSubmissions on the above are expected on or before the close of business on Friday 23rd February 2024,\u201d the memo stated.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST recalls that Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Ali Ndume, kicked against the relocation of some departments of the CBN and FAAN headquarters to Lagos.<\/p>\n

Some northern groups alleged that the development was part of a plot against the North.<\/p>\n

However, the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, and some other groups backed the Federal Government\u2019s action.<\/p>\n
