Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Ebonyi State Police Command has presented cheques worth over N69 million to 41 beneficiaries, including next-of-kin to deceased police officers and injured personnel in the state.<\/p>\n

Commissioner of Police Augustina Ogbodo made the presentation on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, on Friday in Abakaliki.<\/p>\n

Ogbodo, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Mohammed Mohammed, said: \u201cThese are cheques, worth N69,246,803.75k, to 41 beneficiaries who are next-of-kin to deceased police officers. The money is also for the police officers serving in the police command in Ebonyi who were injured in the line of duty.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe payment is a claim settlement from Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident, and the IGP Family Welfare Insurance Scheme.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ogbodo also extended condolences to the families of the deceased officers.<\/p>\n

She urged the injured police officers not to relent in discharging their duties, noting that the IGP cared about the welfare of the police.<\/p>\n

She also advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money, particularly for their wards\u2019 education.<\/p>\n

Augustine Etim, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, appreciated the Inspector-General of Police and pledged to use the money for the good of their respective families.<\/p>\n
