{"id":111380,"date":"2024-02-23T18:02:11","date_gmt":"2024-02-23T17:02:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/efcc-arrests-46-suspected-internet-fraudsters-in-bauchi-ibadan"},"modified":"2024-02-23T20:30:18","modified_gmt":"2024-02-23T19:30:18","slug":"efcc-arrests-46-suspected-internet-fraudsters-in-bauchi-ibadan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/efcc-arrests-46-suspected-internet-fraudsters-in-bauchi-ibadan","title":{"rendered":"EFCC arrests 46 suspected internet fraudsters in Bauchi, Ibadan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested 46 suspected internet fraudsters in Bauchi and Ibadan.<\/p>\n<p>Its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, who said this in a statement on Friday in Abuja, explained that 27 of the suspects were arrested in Bauchi, while 19 were arrested in Ibadan.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, 27 suspected fraudsters were arrested at D&amp;D Apartment and Bubes Hotel, Yelwa, Bauchi State, following credible information on their suspected involvement in internet-related offences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cItems recovered from the suspects include a BMW car, iPhones, iPads, laptops and a desktop computer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In a related development, Oyewale said that the commission arrested 19 suspected internet fraudsters in Ibadan, Oyo State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNine out of the suspects were arrested on Feb. 22, at Olorunda area of Akobo, Ibadan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rest were picked up at Olude, wire, and cable areas of Ibadan on Feb. 21.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspected internet fraudsters were arrested following a series of actionable intelligence gathered and worked upon by operatives of the Ibadan Zonal Command of the EFCC on their internet related fraudulent activities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, items recovered from the suspects include two houses, seven cars, five laptops, 29 mobile phones, one television set and other incriminating documents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn another development, two suspected currency racketeers have also been arrested at Agodi-gate area of Ibadan, Oyo State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspects were arrested in a sting operation, following credible intelligence about their involvement in illegal foreign exchange markets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cItems recovered from them include N274,000.00 (Two hundred and seventy-four thousand Naira) among others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,\u201d he said<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
