Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Dauda Biu, has directed Corps commanders to go after trailers loaded with human beings and animals.<\/p>\n

Dauda gave the directive at a strategy session with commanding officers at the headquarters of the FRSC in Abuja on wednesday.<\/p>\n

He expressed concern over the increasing rate of road crashes involving over-loaded trailers and lorries.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cOur analysis reveals that vehicles carrying animals, goods and people, interstate buses and mass transit systems, remain significant contributors to road accidents and fatalities.<\/p>\n

\u201cAddressing these specific categories of vehicles require targeted interventions and a multifaceted approach.\u201d<\/p>\n

He further identified other challenges that lead to road crashes, stating that the issue of non-adherence to traffic lights, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory, is a cause for concern.<\/p>\n

He noted that \u201csuch blatant disregard for traffic regulations not only endangers lives but also undermines the credibility of our enforcement efforts\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must redouble our efforts to ensure strict enforcement of traffic laws and hold violators accountable for their actions,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Biu also addressed the issue of indiscipline among some FRSC operatives.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is unacceptable for any corps officer to engage in misconduct or display untoward behaviour that tarnishes the reputation of our organization.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must hold ourselves to the highest standards of professionalism working with globally acceptable ethics within the rule of law and integrity at all times.\u201d<\/p>\n
