Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The police on Wednesday, arraigned a 32-year-old man, Alaba Lamidi, in an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate\u2019s Court for alleged stealing of a cell phone.<\/p>\n

Lamidi, whose residential address was not given is standing trial on a charge of stealing.<\/p>\n

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.<\/p>\n

The Police Prosecutor, Insp Yomi Osuolale, had earlier informed the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in December 2023 at about 12:00 pm at Atikankan Area in Ado-Ekiti.<\/p>\n

Osuolale said the defendant stole one Tecno POP 2 phone valued at N100,000 belonging to Garba Umar.<\/p>\n

He said that the offence contravened Section 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.<\/p>\n

He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the file and assemble his witnesses.<\/p>\n

Counsel to the defendant, Mrs Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.<\/p>\n

The Magistrate, Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum.<\/p>\n

She adjourned the case until March 21 for hearing.<\/p>\n
