Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Nigeria Customs Service Special Wildlife Office has warned perpetrators of illegal wildlife trade and trafficking of the agency\u2019s resolve in the fight against such crimes in the country.<\/p>\n

The Commandant, Compt. Haniel Hadison, gave the warning while leading partners in an on-the-spot assessment of the facilities at the Customs Training College (CTC).<\/p>\n

He explained that the agency has adopted a strategic step to support global efforts to end wildlife crime in Nigeria as it joins in celebrating World Wildlife Day.<\/p>\n

According to him, NCS, in its arrangements to further develop the capacity of the officers and men of the service in actualizing its objectives, held meetings with a team of international partners and the United States International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) in Lagos.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe plans include NCS further receiving training assistance to develop expertise, in addition to the provision of modern teaching aids to enhance the facilities at the Customs Training College, Ikeja.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Nigeria Customs Service already has the facilities; it is just about bringing them up to standard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNigeria Customs cannot attain its set objectives without collaborating with relevant organizations, and that is what we are experiencing at the moment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Hadison also commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, and the customs\u2019 management team for their continued support to the Special Wildlife Office of the service.<\/p>\n

On the occasion of the celebration of United Nations World Wildlife Day (WWD), he disclosed that the wildlife office is re-strategiaing, adding, \u201cThat is why the college, being where the wildlife office of the Nigeria Customs is domiciled, is hosting our international partners and their donors.\u201d<\/p>\n
