Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has affirmed the commitment of Nigerian governors to effectively implement a new minimum wage for workers.<\/p>\n

The governor made the declaration on his verified Facebook page following his participation in a meeting in Yola, convened by the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage (North-East Zone) on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are collaborating to ensure the smooth implementation of the new minimum wage,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The governor further expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support of the state governments and his endeavors to enhance the well-being of all Nigerians.<\/p>\n

The federal government constituted a 37-member Tripartite Committee in January to negotiate and agree on the new minimum wage due to take effect this year.<\/p>\n

The federal government also fixed public hearings to get the input of the general public, labour and pressure groups, and religious and business leaders.<\/p>\n

The discussions were held in Yola, Northeast; Kano, Northwest; Abuja, Northcentral; Uyo, South South; Enugu, Southeast, and Lagos, Southwest on Friday.<\/p>\n
