{"id":11281,"date":"2019-06-09T14:10:23","date_gmt":"2019-06-09T14:10:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=11281"},"modified":"2019-06-09T14:10:23","modified_gmt":"2019-06-09T14:10:23","slug":"how-christians-contributed-to-persecution-of-church-in-nigeria-can","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/how-christians-contributed-to-persecution-of-church-in-nigeria-can","title":{"rendered":"How Christians contributed to persecution of Church in Nigeria \u2013 CAN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have blamed Christians for continued persecution of Christians in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>CAN President, Samson Olasupo Ayokunle lamented that Christians do not have the boldness like Esther to fight for their faith, hence the reason for their continued persecution in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, \u201cMost \u2018Christians\u2019 in politics places political advantages above the spiritual and that have contributed to the continued persecution of the church in Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ayokunle also lamented Churches inability to get Certificate of Occupancy (CofO) in some parts of the north, which according to him is against the constitution of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>He said this at a breakfast meeting with the Christian Press Association of Nigeria (CPAN) with the theme \u2018Christian response to global persecution\u2019 in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the spate of kidnapping, banditry and other civil unrest will stop if the current administration reduced unemployment, among the teeming young population in Nigeria, stating an idle person is a willing tool for the Devil.<\/p>\n<p>Ayokunle also berated the lack of unity among Christians to speak and pursue a common objective.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Church is so rich but cannot put resources together for a single purpose,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have blamed Christians for continued persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
