{"id":112944,"date":"2024-03-12T17:59:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T16:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/police-arrest-two-suspected-kidnappers-after-collecting-%e2%82%a65m-in-delta"},"modified":"2024-03-12T20:16:40","modified_gmt":"2024-03-12T19:16:40","slug":"police-arrest-two-suspected-kidnappers-after-collecting-%e2%82%a65m-in-delta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/police-arrest-two-suspected-kidnappers-after-collecting-%e2%82%a65m-in-delta","title":{"rendered":"Police arrest two suspected kidnappers after collecting \u20a65m in Delta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Police in Orerokpe Division led by CSP Paul Oboware have arrested two suspected kidnappers in connection with the alleged abduction of a victim and demanding a ransom of \u20a65 million.<\/p>\n<p>The arrested suspects include Peter Idogor, 24yrs and Emmanuel Sunday, 19yrs, all of Evwreni Community in Ughelli South.<\/p>\n<p>The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi disclosed this during a briefing in Asaba, Delta State.<\/p>\n<p>The State Police boss said, \u201cOn 31\/10\/2023 at about 2217hrs, the DPO Orerokpe CSP Paul Oboware received a distress call about the suspected kidnap of one man (name withheld) by three armed men.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe kidnappers later contacted the family demanding Five Million Naira ransom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer swiftly mobilized and led detectives to the scene of the incident, combed all adjoining streets and bushes in search of hoodlums, and possibly rescue the victim.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to CP Olufemi, \u201cThe victim was later released after an undisclosed ransom was paid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArmed with available information, the DPO did not relent and has been on an intelligence-based investigation since the date of the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe effort of the Command paid off when on 05\/03\/2024 at about 1700hrs, with the aid of a technically generated intelligence-led investigation\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese suspects were linked to the kidnap of the victim and the victim has identified the two suspects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the investigation is still ongoing as efforts are being intensified to arrest the other fleeing gang members.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
