Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A 42-year-old Auwalu Shuaibu in Adamawa State has been arrested for defiling his 9-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n

Auwalu Shaibu, who has confessed the act to the police, said it happened after he had taken too much whisky and some hard drugs.<\/p>\n

Auwalu, who is now in detention at the Adamawa State Police headquarters in Yola, told police operatives that, in his drunken state, he could not differentiate his daughter from his wife.<\/p>\n

Auwalu, a resident of Kabang in Mubi, a commercial nerve centre in northern Adamawa, was arrested on Monday, March 11, according to a statement on Thursday from the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje.<\/p>\n

Nguroje said that Auwalu narrated how he had gone out with a colleague to supply welding materials, after which the colleague took him to the joint where he drank lots of whisky, and was later taken by the same colleague to another place where he consumed hard drugs.<\/p>\n

According to Nguroje, Auwalu said he returned home about 6pm and then slept off, only to wake up the next morning to find his daughter naked by his side.<\/p>\n

The police spokesman said Auwalu had expressed bitterness over the whole thing and had vowed never again to take whisky or hard drugs.<\/p>\n

He pointed out, however, that Auwalu would be duly prosecuted, as the state Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, had ordered further investigation into the matter.<\/p>\n
