Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, said on Sunday that churches should not neglect politicians after serving out their terms in office.<\/p>\n

Wike said while in office, politicians usually contribute to churches but are neglected when their tenure ends.<\/p>\n

He spoke at St. Mark\u2019s Anglican Church in Port Harcourt during the birthday celebration of the House of Representatives Minority Leader, Kingsley Ogundu Chinda.<\/p>\n

The minister charged the clergy to practice what they preach, stressing that they should always pray for the political class.<\/p>\n

Wike said: \u201cThe church should also remain steadfast; the church should also not abandon people when they\u2019re no longer in office. When most of us were in office, there was no church we weren\u2019t contributing to. But immediately we left office, it was a different story.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou, as agents of God, must show that you\u2019re practising what you preach. It\u2019s not only politicians. Always be there for us; pray for us; don\u2019t change.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abass, who spoke at the event, hailed Chinda\u2019s contributions to the lower chamber.<\/p>\n

He described the Minority Leader, who represents the Obio\/Akpor Constituency of Rivers State, as one of the best products in the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

\u201cHon Kingsley Chinda remains one of the best products in the National Assembly and ever since he stepped into the NASS, he has been giving Rivers State very good representation,\u201d the Speaker said.<\/p>\n
