Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Controversial Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi, has disclosed that he had a productive meeting with security agencies on how to curtain bandits and their activities in the North.<\/p>\n

This comes as the Minister of Information and Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said Gumi would be invited for questioning over the activities of bandits in the North.<\/p>\n

The minister had said Gumi was not above the law and that he would be reprimanded if security agencies deemed his comments reckless.<\/p>\n

However, the Kaduna-based Islamic cleric affirmed that only the innocent was above the law.<\/p>\n

Taking to his Facebook page on Tuesday, Gumi said: \u201cOnly one person is above the law: the innocent.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast night I got many frantic calls from well-wishers and journalists about a news item that I was interviewed by security. There is absolutely no cause for alarm.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, we had a productive interaction on how to curb banditry as we are all trying \u2014 each in his own sphere \u2014 to tackle the monster bedevilling the nation. There was no animosity but courtesy and full of respect.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all need as a nation to unite and work in synergy to achieve an everlasting peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gumi had recently urged President Bola Tinubu to join him in negotiating with bandits.<\/p>\n
