{"id":115126,"date":"2024-04-06T20:27:43","date_gmt":"2024-04-06T19:27:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/road-crashes-not-caused-by-evil-spirits-frsc"},"modified":"2024-04-06T22:39:54","modified_gmt":"2024-04-06T21:39:54","slug":"road-crashes-not-caused-by-evil-spirits-frsc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/road-crashes-not-caused-by-evil-spirits-frsc","title":{"rendered":"Road crashes not caused by evil spirits \u2013 FRSC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Mr Dauda Ali-Biu, the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has said that road traffic crashes are not caused by spiritual manipulations or ay other form of evil spirits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe crashes are caused by physical errors; there\u2019s nothing spiritual about them,\u201d Ali-Biu said at the Flag-off of the 2024 Sallah mega motor park rally on Saturday in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the rally had become particularly imperative in view of the envisioned increase in vehicular and human movement across the country as the festive period gathers momentum.<\/p>\n<p>The FRSC boss was represented by Mr Shehu Zaki, the FRSC Deputy Corps Marshal, DCM, in charge of operations.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the Corps was working assiduously to ensure a significant shift in the attitude of motorists in the year 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNigerians must be aware that frequent cases of road crashes on our roads cannot be linked to any spirit killing people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is an increase in human and vehicular movement, bad driving and impatience. These are the major causes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ali-Biu said that drinking and driving, overloading of vehicles, worn-out tyres, overloading, lane indiscipline, speeding, wrongful overtaking, among others, pose a threat to the life of the driver, passengers and property,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch bad driving behaviours also hurt road infrastructure which cost a lot of tax payers\u2019 resources to build.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs part of efforts to deal with these challenges, the Corps came up with the idea of taking the message of safety down to all of us at the Motor Parks early, in view of the critical role union officials play on the roads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis also serves as a prelude to massive deployment of personnel and logistics to the highways, particularly at the black spots, to contain the perennial traffic gridlock and the accompanying hazards,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
