Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A 42-year- old woman, Ihuoma Onunyere, was on Wednesday docked in an Ikeja Magistrates\u2019 Court for allegedly stealing N2.1 million from her late boyfriend\u2019s account.<\/p>\n

The defendant, a businesswoman who resides at 16, Joseph Harrison St., Iwaya area, Yaba, Lagos, is charged with theft.<\/p>\n

She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Innocent Odugbo, informed the court that Onunyere committed the offense between October 27 and November 20, 2023 in Yaba, Lagos.<\/p>\n

The prosecutor said that the defendant withdrew N2.1million from the account of Mr John Nwanu through his mobile phone App after his death.<\/p>\n

The prosecutor said that it was the daughter of the late man, Ruth, who discovered the withdrawal and the case was reported at the police station.<\/p>\n

The offense, according to the prosecutor, contravenes the provisions of Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.<\/p>\n

The Magistrate, Miss M. F Onamusi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and then adjourned the case until May 8 for mention.<\/p>\n
