{"id":116411,"date":"2024-04-19T20:58:30","date_gmt":"2024-04-19T19:58:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/police-arrest-suspect-over-murder-of-elderly-couple-in-abuja"},"modified":"2024-04-19T23:22:57","modified_gmt":"2024-04-19T22:22:57","slug":"police-arrest-suspect-over-murder-of-elderly-couple-in-abuja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/police-arrest-suspect-over-murder-of-elderly-couple-in-abuja","title":{"rendered":"Police arrest suspect over murder of elderly couple in Abuja"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has arrested a suspect over the murder of an elderly couple, Adebola Ezekiel, 80, and his wife, Abiodun Ezekiel, 79.<\/p>\n<p>Police Commissioner in FCT, Benneth Igweh said this during a media briefing on Friday in Abuja, stressing that the gruesome murder of the couple took place in their residence at Apo Legislative Quarters in Abuja on April 1.<\/p>\n<p>Igwe said the police began investigation immediately and were able to arrest the suspect, a former driver to the deceased couple.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, police detectives trailed the suspect and arrested him in his hideout in Obajana, Kogi.<\/p>\n<p>Igwe claimed that the suspect had freely confessed to have gained access to the house on the same date, slit the deceased\u2019s throat and made away with the phones and ATM cards of the couples.<\/p>\n<p>The commissioner of police also said the command, on April 11 arrested two suspects, for alleged culpable homicide in Mabushi area of Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Igweh said the suspects were arrested by operatives from Mabushi Division following a tip off that the corpse of one Bilkisu Mohammed was being discreetly conveyed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe deceased had earlier visited the house of her supposed boyfriend, who eventually travelled to Kano and left her in the care of the female suspect.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe deceased allegedly fell ill and was given non-prescribed drugs that led to her death by the male suspect who came into the house on the invitation of the female suspect,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the suspects were currently in police custody, undergoing interrogation.<\/p>\n<p>Igweh said operatives of the Command from Utako Division, on April 6, in a well-coordinated operation, arrested nine suspected armed robbers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
