Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>It is no longer a news that the National chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress and the immediate past governor of Kano State Dr.Abdulkahi Umar Ganduje is not finding it easy politically as the announcement of his suspension from the party dominated the media recently.<\/p>\nThe Ganduje ward executives in Dawakin Tofa local government area of Kano State through the party’s legal adviser in the ward Halliru Gwanzo announced the suspension of Ganduje during a press briefing in Kano on Monday 15th of April 2024.<\/p>\n
The APC legal adviser in Ganduje ward said the party at the ward level had decided to suspend the National Chairman from the party due to the allegations of bribery leveled against him by the Kano State government.<\/p>\n
The ward executives said the suspension started on Monday 15th April 2024.<\/p>\n
Kano state APC leadership reactions on Ganduje’s suspension<\/b><\/p>\n
However, the position of Ganduje at ward level was countered by the leadership of Dawakin Tofa local government and state level of the party shortly.<\/p>\n
Reacting, the party\u2019s local government officials thwarted the suspension and sacked those behind it.<\/p>\n
The APC Chairman Dawakin Tofa Local Government Inusa Dawanau, told newsmen that those behind the suspension of the National Chairman were caught in anti-party activities and their records of meetings with the opposition were exposed.<\/p>\n
Adopting the suspension of the APC Ward leaders, the state working committee of APC said they have sanctioned the perpetrators for six months and a special investigations panel has been set up to verify several allegations against them.<\/p>\n
The Kano Chairman of the Party, Abdullahi Abbas, said the decisions of the Local Government Party Leaders have since been adopted.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have evidence of meetings between the state government officials and those that suspended the National Chairman. The state working committee has agreed to sanction them for six months and they stand suspended.\u201d Kano State APC chairman said.<\/p>\n
This development which many spectators attributed to the move of the NNPP government in Kano State under Abba Yusuf who is the political mentor of Dr.Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to remove Ganduje from the National chairman position before they switched to the ruling party.<\/p>\n
The spectators said that with Ganduje as the National Chairman of APC Kwankwaso and members of his Political camp will not find it comfortable to move to the APC.<\/p>\n
Another Ganduje ward APC executives suspend APC National chairman despite court orders<\/b><\/p>\n
On Sunday 21 of April , exactly six days after the announcement of the first suspension by the APC Legal Adviser of Ganduje ward, another set of people emerged claiming to be the genuine leaders of the All Progressives Congress at the Party’s National chairman ward in Dawakin Tofa Local government area.<\/p>\n
The group that includes Ganduje’s nephew said they suspended the former Kano State governor from the party.<\/p>\n
The new Executive Council of the Ganduje ward claimed to be the legitimate Ward Executives, legally and validly elected on 31st July 2021.<\/p>\n
The group also issued a fresh suspension on the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje while<\/p>\n
Addressing Newsmen in Kano, on Saturday 21 of April 2024.<\/p>\n
Ganduje is accused of anti-party activities<\/b><\/p>\n
Secretary of the Group Ja\u2019afar Adamu Ganduje, who spoke on behalf of 11 other executive members, explained that the suspension of the former Governor of Kano State was necessitated by the allegation of anti-party activities exhibited by him, which led to the division and failure of the party during the last election.<\/p>\n
Adamu, who is Ganduje\u2019s nephew, accused him of igniting a conflict of interest that led to two factional executives in the ward and thereby brought the party to disrepute in the eyes of the public.<\/p>\n
He also alleged that the APC National Chairman has not been paying his statutory party\u2019s dues.<\/p>\n
“We are the authentic executives of Ganduje Ward and we have passed a vote of no confidence and imposed a new suspension on the National Chairman.<\/p>\n
First we have suspended Dr. Ganduje\u2019s membership for creating internal conflict among party members at the ward level.<\/p>\n
Another major reason why the authentic executives resolved to suspend Ganduje is the issue of anti-party activities he generated during the 2023 elections, which resulted in the party\u2019s failure in the state.\u201d He said.<\/p>\n
Adamu emphasized that those two factions claiming to be executives from Ganduje ward are fake and impostors orchestrated by Dr. Ganduje and other bad elements in the party.<\/p>\n
He reiterated that the real Ganduje ward leaders would not hesitate to institute legal action against the two factions that earlier addressed the media claiming to be the ward executives.<\/p>\n
Counter court orders on Ganduje’s suspension<\/b><\/p>\n
The latest suspension and the emergency of new executive members from Ganduje ward in Dawakin Tofa local government are coming days after two conflicting court orders, one from the state high court while the other from the Federal High Court all sitting in Kano.<\/p>\n
The first order from the state High Court ordered the two parties (APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the Ganduje ward executives ) to maintain the status quo and restrained Ganduje from parading himself as APC National chairman.<\/p>\n
The second order that came from the Federal High Court affirmed Ganduje as an APC member and invalidated his suspension.<\/p>\n
The two orders attracted different interpretations from legal practitioners and analysts.<\/p>\n
Ganduje’s travails as APC chairman are different from that of Oshiomhole<\/b><\/p>\n
Felix Morka is the National Publicity Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).He said it would be wrong for anybody to liken the current travail of their National Chairman ,Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje ,to the political intrigues that led to the removal of Adams Oshiomhole -led National Working Committee from the party secretariat.<\/p>\n
Morka stated this while answering questions surrounding Ganduje’s suspension on Arise Tv on Thursday 18th April 2024 .<\/p>\n
He said the former APC National chairman Senator Adams Oshiomhole and members of the then National Working Committee were elected into office for four years (2018-2023) at a National convention in Abuja.<\/p>\n
But the leadership of the party was dissolved two years into their tenure ,an action that a former acting chairman of the APC ,Ntufam Eta ,claimed was taken to detail the Presidential ambition of Bola Tinubu (now President).<\/p>\n
A Federal High Court in the Federal Capital Territory had in March 2020 asked Oshiomhole to step aside following an application of interlocutory injunction seeking his removal as APC national chairman.<\/p>\n
Justice Danlami Dench had stated that the former Edo governor should remain suspended pending the determination of the suit.<\/p>\n
Dench also said it was wrong of the ruling party to have kept Oshiomhole as chairman after he was suspended by his state APC chapter in November 2019.<\/p>\n
The APC publicity Secretary said that unlike what happened in Oshiomhole’s case ,those pushing for Ganduje’s suspension were not recognised members of the party.<\/p>\n
“No it is not familiar if you understand the facts of what happened to Oshiomhole .They are incomparable.They are two different things altogether .In the case of Senator Adam Oshiomhole when he was the national chairman , the individuals who were involved in that effort to suspend him and take all the actions within the party were officials of the party.<\/p>\n
I know no one could have come out at that time to say these individuals are not legitimate officers of the party .So whether they were persuaded to do that or compromised, whether they were acting on their free will and volition is a different conversation. And I am not going to speak to that. But they were members of the party.<\/p>\n
In this particular case in Kano, we are seeing people that we know are not officials of the party. The man who purportedly read the suspension was physically at the party secretariat on Wednesday to say he did not participate nor authorize any lawyer to go to court to bring this action against the national chairman. So when the person that is fully disclosed by identity is the same individual saying he did not, then who the heck was the individual who went to court? That is the question.<\/p>\n
“The difference is that we have pure imposters announcing the suspension of our national Chairman and they have gone to court to attempt to affirm that same illegal and criminal act. So I just want to make sure that it is clear that these individuals are not authorized and not acting foreign on behalf of the ward. They need to stop because when the dust settles, there will be consequences “The APC National Publicity Secretary stated<\/p>\n
As this crisis emerged from the APC National chairman political root -Ganduuje ward in Dawakin Tofa local government area of Kano state many political commentators are giving it multiple interpretations.<\/p>\n
The first interpretation is that the former Kano State governor Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso and the governor of Kano State Abba Yusuf under NNPP are trying to destroy Ganduje politically through different strategies.<\/p>\n
Others are also saying Kwankwaso and Abba Yusuf are clearing ways for them to join the ruling APC and Ganduje as the National Chairman of the party remains their threat, so removing him will guarantee their smooth transition.<\/p>\n
In the same vein some analysts are saying the high ranking APC members begin to see Ganduje as a Political burden ahead of 2027 so this kind of crisis can help in chasing him out as APC National chairman.<\/p>\n
