{"id":117063,"date":"2024-04-26T20:16:05","date_gmt":"2024-04-26T19:16:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/nigerias-unity-sacrosanct-makinde"},"modified":"2024-04-26T23:01:31","modified_gmt":"2024-04-26T22:01:31","slug":"nigerias-unity-sacrosanct-makinde","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/nigerias-unity-sacrosanct-makinde","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria\u2019s unity sacrosanct \u2013 Makinde"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has declared the unity of Nigeria sacrosanct.<\/p>\n<p>Makinde made this declaration in his office while receiving members of the National Assembly Joint Committee on Electoral Matters, including the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, and the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Matters, Adebayo Balogun, who were in Ibadan to consult with stakeholders on the proposed constitution amendments.<\/p>\n<p>In his address, Makinde said: \u201cI have seen people who were given the opportunity to change the trajectory of the nation but because of selfishness and personal interest, they missed the road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho knows who is going to be here tomorrow? Whatever you do, do it in the wider interest of the country; the unity of Nigeria is sacrosanct. A united Nigeria is the route to go.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy do people go to court after an election? It is because they feel cheated.
