Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Kano Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Sales of Government Properties has commenced its inaugural sitting with a promise not be swayed by primordial interests that would lead to them deviating from their purpose.<\/p>\n

The 12-man Commission of Inquiry, which has Justice Faruk Lawan Adamu, a Kano High Court Judge as Chairman, began it\u2019s sitting on Monday at Court 3 of Audu Bako Secretariat, with further calls to the media to fully cooperate with them in achieving the goals of their assignments.<\/p>\n

Speaking, the Chairman of the Commission, Justice Adamu, hinted that the aims and objectives of their fact finding is to get to the root of properties sold without due process and document their findings, submit them to the government with advice.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are to make recommendations to the Government for the recovery and restoration of any open spaces, prayer grounds, graveyards, historical or cultural sites or monuments and other open spaces as far as practicable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI make bold promises to the government and the good people that the Commission would discharge its assignment diligently and fairly and we will remain committed to the principles of honesty, fairness as we will not be swayed by primordial interests of any kind\u201d.<\/p>\n

Adamu reiterated that they were not established to witch-hunt or prosecute anybody, rather, \u201cwe are on a fact findings mission and at the end of our findings we will submit a set of recommendations to the State Government for possible implementation.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then called on public with information to present it to the Commission, appealing to the media to give them full support on the job.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut let me advise that complaints should be genuine as they would not attack anybody or allow anybody to use the Commission for personal unverified information,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Barrister Nuraini Jimoh, who spoke on behalf of lawyers, promised to cooperate with the Commission, saying they have no fear as they trust the chsirman to deliver.<\/p>\n
