Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Commuters, travellers, and other residents of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, are stranded as a result of the scarcity of commercial buses, motorcycles, and tricycles.<\/p>\n

The problem started in the early hours of Monday and has continued today, Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Some of the areas visited by our correspondent included Apete, Awotan, Sango, Mokola, and Agodi Gate.<\/p>\n

Others are Idi-Ape, Iwo Road, Montan, Agbowo, University of Ibadan, Mokola, Total Garden, Secretariat Road, Ijokodo and Bodija.<\/p>\n

Our correspondent observed that many residents of the ancient city were stranded as a result of the scarcity of petrol in the areas.<\/p>\n

It was observed that commercial bus operators, motorcyclists, and tricyclists have increased their fares as a result of the scarcity, leaving many people stranded at bus stops.<\/p>\n

Some residents who have short distances to cover were seen trekking.<\/p>\n

Sango to UI, which was N100 before, is now N200 while a tricycle trip from Mokola to Gate, which was N150 before, is now N200.<\/p>\n

A drop from Mokola to Bodija, which was N200 before, is now N300.<\/p>\n

A resident, identified as Tolu, lamented the cost of transportation.<\/p>\n

She said she spent N1,000 to board a motorcycle from University College Hospital to the University of Ibadan.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is worrisome, I spent N1000 from UCH to UI today. There is no fuel and I can\u2019t even bring my car. There is no road. Majority of the roads are blocked,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
