Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Operatives of the Kwara State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested 31 suspects for alleged drug-related offences.<\/p>\n

The command also recovered 270 kilograms of different types of drugs during a three-day operation.<\/p>\n

The state commander of the agency, Mohammed Ibrahim, disclosed this while addressing operatives of the command to commence the second phase of the special operation tagged \u201cOperation Gbalumo\/Operation Tap Root\u201d at the command\u2019s headquarters in Ilo\u0323rin.<\/p>\n

He said the command, in collaboration with the state government, had commenced the special operation to ensure drug demand and supply were reduced to the minimum.<\/p>\n

Ibrahim explained that the command will sustain its follow-up operation to prevent the drug traffickers from regrouping in other parts of the state.<\/p>\n

He thanked the state government for supporting the command in its operations and appealed to the government to provide the command with vehicles to ease the movement of operatives to other parts of the state.<\/p>\n

In his address, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Muyideen Aliyu, expressed satisfaction with the operation carried out by the command.<\/p>\n

He said the state government will continue to support the command to ensure drug demand and supply are reduced.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Drug Abuse and Prevention, Aileru Olamilekan, said the state government has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to reducing drug supply and promoting a safe environment.<\/p>\n

He called on other stakeholders to join hands with the command in the fight against drug abuse in the state.<\/p>\n
