Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Armed hoodlums have shot dead one Iliyasu Abubakar in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State.<\/p>\n

According to a statement by the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) SP William Ovye Aya, on Friday, some armed hoodlums drove in an unregistered Golden colour Muzzle Camry to Ojode area, in Ankpa Local Government, and started shooting sporadically, which led to the death of Abubakar.<\/p>\n

The Police spokesperson disclosed further that another victim sustained a bullet wound on his right chest.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cImmediately, the Divisional Police Officer of Ankpa Division, CSP Chikamnele Amaralam swung into action, mobilized his team to the scene and engaged the hoodlums which forced them to flee and abandoned one AK-47 rifle with breech NO. 354951 and two live ammunition.\u201d<\/p>\n

In another development, he said \u201coperatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Adogo Division led by SP Yusuf Hantsi, in collaboration with the Local Vigilantes on Thursday 23\/5\/2024 rescued five kidnapped victims who were earlier kidnapped at Aresuare Area of Ajaokuta Local Government.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said \u201cthe victims were kidnapped on 17\/5\/2024 while on transit along Ajaokuta-Adogo road.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Operatives, while on rescue mission, combed the bush and invaded the kidnappers\u2019 camp.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe hoodlums engaged the team in a gun duel. But due to the superior firepower of the team, the hoodlums abandoned their victims and fled. All the victims were rescued unhurt.\u201d<\/p>\n
