Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Operatives of the Department of State Services in Benue State have arrested a notorious illegal Checkpoint operator, Orih Joseph.<\/p>\n

Joseph is alleged to be the mastermind of illegal checkpoints in Benue South, popularly known as Zone C of the state.<\/p>\n

A statement by the Media Assistant to the Acting Executive Chairman, Benue Internal Revenue Service, BIRS, Jacinta Bernard, explained that the kingpin was arrested after all efforts to dislodge his criminal activities and members of his gang failed<\/p>\n

Reacting to the development, the Acting Executive Chairman, BIRS, Emmanuel Agema, commended the efforts of the DSS operatives over Joseph\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n

He said his arrest was a significant success in the efforts to rid the state of all illegal checkpoints and other fraudulent activities associated with revenue collection.<\/p>\n

Mr Agema assured that the service under his watch, would give the necessary support to the security agencies in the state to ensure the arrest of other members of Joseph\u2019s gang, and others still operating discretely in some parts of the state.<\/p>\n

Benard said the suspect will soon be arraigned in the court of law for prosecution.<\/p>\n
