Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A 40-year-old man, Oluwayemi Raheem, was, on Friday arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates\u2019 Court, Ibadan, over an alleged attempt to steal 1,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) in Ibadan.<\/p>\n

Raheem, whose address was not provided, was charged with attempted theft, to which he, however, pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n

The Prosecutor, Insp Opaleye Sikiru, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 19 at Gastab Filling Station, Toll Gate, Ibadan.<\/p>\n

Sikiru said that the defendant attempted to steal 1,000 litres of fuel worth N650,000 without the consent of the filling station.<\/p>\n

He said that the offences were contrary to Section 509 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.<\/p>\n

The Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250,000, with two sureties in like sum.<\/p>\n

Ogunkanmi, thereafter, adjourned the case till Sept. 19 for hearing. (NAN)<\/p>\n
