Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Less than four months to the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo, the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP has suspended its candidate, Pastor Azemhe Azena.<\/p>\n

The candidate was suspended by his ward\u2019s executives in Etsako East Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n

The suspension notice dated June 3, 2024, was signed by the ward 10 chairman, Kadiri Eshimokha, Stella Afebua, Woman Leader, Eshiobu Johnson, Youth Leader and Imonikho Abdul, Secretary.<\/p>\n

The signee said the governorship candidate was suspended for alleged gross misconduct, disregard for party and anti-party activities.<\/p>\n

The letter of suspension was also copied to the National Chairman of the party, Edo State Chairman, Edo North senatorial Vice Chairman, South-South Vice Chairman, National Chairman of INEC and the Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC.<\/p>\n

The notice was received by the State Chairman of the party, June 5, 2024.<\/p>\n

Reacting in an interview with newsmen, Azemhe Azena, the party\u2019s governorship candidate, described the purported suspension as fake, inconsequential and of no effect.<\/p>\n

Azemhe alleged that those who carried out the purported suspension are non-members of the party in the ward<\/p>\n

According to him, the authentic Ward 10 Chairman of NNPP in the Etsako East Local government area is Goddy lyamah.<\/p>\n

\u201d He has since refuted the claim to be false and that persons whose names appeared in the suspension letter are not members of the party\u201d, said Azemhe.<\/p>\n
