Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Jigawa State Governor Mallam Umar Namadi has urged farmers and herdsmen in the state to tolerate one another in order to live in peace and harmony.<\/p>\n

Namadi made the call during a follow-up peace mission visit to Kabak in Kirikassama LGA.<\/p>\n

He said there is need to live in peace and harmony for economic development of the area.<\/p>\n

The governor warned against encroachment of the cattle route and grazing reserve, as well as grazing in farmlands.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the state government would take serious action against anybody found encroaching the land.<\/p>\n

Chairman of the Farmers Association of Nigeria, Jigawa State chapter, Maiunguwa Jaga, commended the governor for his prompt action to address persistent farmers, herders conflict in the state.<\/p>\n

He said the move is in line with the present administration\u2019s 12 points agenda aimed at increasing food production in the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this agreement in place, we anticipate increased agricultural productivity, improved security, and enhanced social cohesion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

There have been persistent clashes between farmers and herdsmen in the state, resulting in loss of lives and destruction of property.<\/p>\n
