{"id":122718,"date":"2024-07-01T12:18:51","date_gmt":"2024-07-01T11:18:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/25-dead-53-injured-in-kano-auto-accident-frsc"},"modified":"2024-07-01T13:26:01","modified_gmt":"2024-07-01T12:26:01","slug":"25-dead-53-injured-in-kano-auto-accident-frsc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/25-dead-53-injured-in-kano-auto-accident-frsc","title":{"rendered":"25 dead, 53 injured in Kano auto accident \u2013 FRSC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Kano Sector Command, has confirmed the death of 25 travellers, while 53 others were injured in an early morning auto crash.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred in the Dangwaro International Market, in the metropolitan area of Kano City.<\/p>\n<p>The travellers were said to have been loaded in a trailer which also carried cows heading to the Southern part of Nigeria from Maiduguri.<\/p>\n<p>However, the trailer collided with another vehicle and somersaulted.<\/p>\n<p>The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Ibrahim Abdullahi confirmed the incident in a statement issued to newsmen on Monday in Kano.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the accident involved a trailer (IVECO) with registration number XA 311 ZB.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe received a call at about 03:15 am on July 1, 2024. On receiving the information, we quickly dispatched our personnel and vehicle to the scene of the incident to rescue the victims at 03:30 am,\u201d Ibrahim said.<\/p>\n<p>The Sector Commander said that the accident occurred as a result of excessive speed, dangerous driving and overloading which led to loss of control.<\/p>\n<p>He further explained that during the rescue operation, items recovered include six motorcycles, ten mobile phones, animals (goats and rams), maize and the sum of N400,000.<\/p>\n<p>Abdullahi said that all the recovered items were in police custody.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the victims were immediately conveyed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital Kano for urgent medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe doctors on duty confirmed 25 dead out of the victims\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n<p>He warned motorists against unsafe practices of transporting animals, goods, along with human beings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About Nigeria Follow Africa-Press<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
