Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has announced the commencement of the exercise to elect new leaders of the party from the ward to the state level.<\/p>\n

This is following the recent shakeup in the state leadership of the party that sparked the mass resignation of members.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made known during the party\u2019s stakeholders meeting at its state secretariat in Owerri. The State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Chidi Dike, who addressed the gathering, assured that the upcoming congress will be conducted in a manner that will be acceptable to all.<\/p>\n

He maintained that the exercise, when completed, will reposition the party and put it in a better, stronger position to face the challenges ahead.<\/p>\n

Dike commended the National Secretary of the party and the party\u2019s governorship candidate in the November 2023 election, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, for his assistance towards the welfare of the party in the state.<\/p>\n

Releasing the timetable for the congress, the State Secretary of the party, Ugorji Onuegbu, informed that the ward congress will take place on July 27, while the LGA and state congresses have been slated to take place on August 10 and 31, respectively.<\/p>\n

After the announcement of the dates of the congresses, the chairman used the moment to inaugurate the LGA Congress Harmonisation and Consensus Committees that will supervise the congress at the LGA level.<\/p>\n

Dike commended the efforts of the Chief Emma Ahuoku-led Disciplinary Committee, observing that all acts of indiscipline, abuse of office and anti-party activities are now things of the past.<\/p>\n

The meeting was well attended by party stakeholders across the three geopolitical zones in the state.<\/p>\n
