Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Residents of Obodougwa-Ogume in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State were on Wednesday gripped with fear as a community leader, Anselm Oyibo, was found dead.<\/p>\n

Oyibo, a former Community Development Committee chairman, was discovered macheted to death and set ablaze alongside his motorcycle by unknown assailants.<\/p>\n

Oyibo\u2019s remains were found at Obodougwa-Ogume Junction along Kwale-Obiaruku Road.<\/p>\n

Residents who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the incident, reported that Oyibo left his Kwale residence around 11:30 pm on Sunday after receiving a phone call.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe deceased suddenly woke up from his bed just before midnight and said he was going out.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe started his motorcycle, brought out his phone, and started answering a call. He was married to two wives, so it was felt that he was going to his second wife\u2019s place.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe next morning, he didn\u2019t return, so his second wife was called, and she said he didn\u2019t spend the night at her place,\u201d a resident recounted.<\/p>\n

The source stated that attempts to reach him by phone were unsuccessful, as the phone initially rang but later became unreachable.<\/p>\n

\u201cLater, information came that someone was killed at our junction and was burnt with his motorcycle. It was later confirmed that he was the person. He was killed with machetes and set ablaze. His corpse has been taken to the mortuary,\u201d another resident explained.<\/p>\n

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the killing.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, efforts are ongoing to unravel the circumstances that led to his death,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
