Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has shifted to August 17, 2024, the date for the local government chairmanship and councillorship elections.<\/p>\n

Bauchi conducted the last local government elections in October 2020 and the PDP won all chairmen and councillorship seats.<\/p>\n

All the 20 local government chairmen and deputies have since then been appointed as caretaker committee chairmen.<\/p>\n

\u201cCurrently, all the chairmen and deputies were appointed by Governor Bala Mohammed,\u201d Chairman of BASIEC, Ahmed Makaman in a statement.<\/p>\n

The statement explained that the plan to hold the elections on August 10 could not be sustained due to some reasons which he did not specify.<\/p>\n

He said the elections were adjusted to take place on August 17.<\/p>\n

He urged all political parties and other stakeholders to note the new adjustment and tidy internal mechanisms for the new date.<\/p>\n
