{"id":123381,"date":"2024-07-07T22:13:11","date_gmt":"2024-07-07T21:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/46-year-old-suspected-ritualist-arrested-in-kwara"},"modified":"2024-07-07T23:24:22","modified_gmt":"2024-07-07T22:24:22","slug":"46-year-old-suspected-ritualist-arrested-in-kwara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/46-year-old-suspected-ritualist-arrested-in-kwara","title":{"rendered":"46-year old suspected ritualist arrested in Kwara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A 46-year-old suspected ritualist, Isiaka Adeniyi, has been arrested by the Kwara State police command after a failed attempt to allegedly use a 10-year-old boy Akeem Nurudeen for ritual purposes.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred at about 17;30hours at Abab Oke Foma area of the Ilorin metropolis according to the spokesperson of the command, Ejire Adeyemi Toun, in a statement in Ilorin on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Kwara State Police Command received a distress call of an attempted culpable homicide and the arrest of a suspected ritualist in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to information received from the police at C Division, on the 2nd of July 2024 at about 1800 hrs, a report was received from Onidoko Police Post indicating that at about 1730 hrs, an incident occurred in the Abab Oke-Foma area of Ilorin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was reported that a 10-year-old boy, Akeem Nurudeen, resident of Abab area Abayawo, Ilorin, was hawking pepper when he was lured into a room by a suspect identified as Isiaka Adeniyi, aged 46, from Ifedapo Community, Oke-Foma area, Ilorin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201d The suspect allegedly lured the victim under the pretext of purchasing pepper, but instead covered the victim\u2019s face with cloth and attempted to slaughter him with a knife.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ejire disclosed that the swift action of vigilant community members saved the boy and the suspect was apprehended and brought to the station.<\/p>\n<p>\u201d Preliminary investigation is currently underway, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough and discreet investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The state Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya commended the proactive efforts of the community members in apprehending the suspect and ensuring that justice is served in the grievous matter.<\/p>\n<p>He urged the public to remain calm as the police investigation continues and assured that the police will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of all residents of Kwara State.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About Nigeria Follow Africa-Press<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
