{"id":123510,"date":"2024-07-08T15:35:30","date_gmt":"2024-07-08T14:35:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/loan-submit-students-data-to-nelfund-in-48-hours-nans-to-institutions"},"modified":"2024-07-08T17:19:27","modified_gmt":"2024-07-08T16:19:27","slug":"loan-submit-students-data-to-nelfund-in-48-hours-nans-to-institutions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/loan-submit-students-data-to-nelfund-in-48-hours-nans-to-institutions","title":{"rendered":"Loan: Submit students\u2019 data to NELFUND in 48-hours \u2013 NANS to Institutions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has given the nation\u2019s public institutions a 48-hour ultimatum to submit the data of their students to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, for processing students\u2019 applications for loans.<\/p>\n<p>The student body also said the inability of some institutions to submit the required data is denying the students the chance to apply for the loan.<\/p>\n<p>The National President of the association, Lucky Emonefe, on Monday, said the ultimatum became necessary because of the July 12 deadline issued by NELFUND for institutions to upload the data on their portal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS is appalled by the update from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, stating that many higher institutions have failed to upload their students\u2019 data on the board\u2019s portal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis comes in light of the deadline of July 12, 2024, issued by the management of NELFUND for the submission of students\u2019 data.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNANS frowns at this development as it shows a lack of commitment and urgency on the part of the remaining state higher institutions in Nigeria. NELFUND was established to provide interest-free loans to students in need, and it is disheartening to see that some institutions are not taking advantage of this limited opportunity for their students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe call on the management of these institutions to prioritize the uploading of their student\u2019s data on the loan board portal before the deadline. Education is a fundamental right, and every student deserves access to financial support to further their studies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNANS will continue to monitor the situation closely and call on the remaining institutions to immediately ensure that all students have the opportunity to benefit from this loan scheme.
