Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, said he is surprised at the prolonged silence of the Nigeria Police Force over the attempted detonation of an explosive device in Port Harcourt by protesters demanding the elongation of the tenure of former chairmen of local government councils.<\/p>\n

Governor Fubara stated that if such action had been committed by his supporters, they would have faced immediate terrorism charges.<\/p>\n

The governor expressed his concerns after swearing in Emmanuel Onengiye-Ofori Frank-Fubara as the new Commissioner for Finance at the Executive Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday.<\/p>\n

Governor Fubara emphasised that Rivers State currently has only one significant adversary vehemently opposed to his administration, along with others who he described as their accomplices, all attempting to destabilise the state.<\/p>\n

However, he declared that their efforts are continually thwarted by divine intervention.<\/p>\n

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Governor Fubara said: \u201cYou know, if it were a situation that (Governor) Fubara is involved in anything, or links Fubara\u2019s associates, by now, Nigeria would have been hot.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere would have been arrest, there would have been statements, and there would have been counter this or that. There would have been press conferences.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut, because it is from the other side, nothing is heard yet. But glory to God, they couldn\u2019t hide it forever, even if I have not been hearing anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd, I am wondering, after how many weeks now, the Nigerian Police is still not able to come out and make a statement about the attempt by the man that tried to detonate a dynamite in front of Presidential Hotel, Port Harcourt.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am still wondering why it has not happened. But, maybe, if it was any other thing that has to do with us, they would have charged the person for terrorism.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut, you see, this God that I serve, we are serving genuinely. This God that Rivers State has been dedicated to by our predecessors, because when they make statements, they say, Rivers State belongs to God, and that is the God that is saving and lifting us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Governor Fubara expressed satisfaction with his administration\u2019s relationship with the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Victor Oko-Jumbo, which he said is legally recognised to carry out its legislative duties and support the executive effectively without disrupting governance.<\/p>\n
