Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The National Youth Service Corps , NYSC, has launched a free medical outreach in Zalanga community in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, as part of efforts to address health challenges and improve healthcare access for rural residents.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the flag-off of the one-day outreach, the State NYSC Coordinator, Rifkatu Yakubu, explained that the initiative falls under the NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD).<\/p>\n

Yakubu said the programme aims at improving access to quality healthcare in remote and rural areas across Nigeria.<\/p>\n

She noted that the outreach would serve over 500 community members, offering free treatment for ailments such as malaria, typhoid, hypertension, diarrhea, cholera and diabetes.<\/p>\n

The state coordinator added that cases beyond the Corps\u2019 medical volunteers\u2019 capabilities would be referred to more specialised hospitals.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis exercise aims to provide medical assistance and free medications to the less privileged in the community,\u201d Yakubu stated.<\/p>\n

She also called on religious and community leaders to support the NYSC\u2019s efforts to enhance healthcare delivery nationwide.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the community, the village head, Alhaji Yusuf Mohammed, expressed gratitude to the scheme for bringing the exercise to their domain.<\/p>\n

He noted that the outreach would significantly address the health challenges of the people, adding that the intervention would also go a long way in assisting the people from villages in the area in accessing healthcare services to which they may not have had access to.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe entire people of Zalanga are entirely grateful to the scheme for the kind gesture and I would like to call on the members of the community to come out so as to benefit from this exercise,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
