{"id":123830,"date":"2024-07-10T21:39:17","date_gmt":"2024-07-10T20:39:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/edo-guber-pdp-suspends-national-vice-chairman-dan-orbih-over-ighodalo-comments"},"modified":"2024-07-10T22:52:37","modified_gmt":"2024-07-10T21:52:37","slug":"edo-guber-pdp-suspends-national-vice-chairman-dan-orbih-over-ighodalo-comments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/edo-guber-pdp-suspends-national-vice-chairman-dan-orbih-over-ighodalo-comments","title":{"rendered":"Edo Guber: PDP suspends National Vice Chairman, Dan Orbih over Ighodalo comments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has suspended the party\u2019s National Vice Chairman (South-South), Dan Orbih.<\/p>\n<p>PDP NWC said Orbih was suspended due to his comments against the party\u2019s candidate in the forthcoming Edo State governorship election, Asue Ighodalo.<\/p>\n<p>A statement by PDP\u2019s spokesman, Debo Ologunagba said Orbih was suspended during the party\u2019s NWC 588th meeting on Wednesday where it considered all issues, including \u201ccomplaints on the activities of the National Vice Chairman (South-South) Dan Orbih concerning the September 21, 2024 Governorship election in Edo State.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the state, a six-man investigative panel was set to probe Orbih\u2019s activities.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads: \u201cThe NWC at the meeting unanimously condemned the embarrassing actions and utterances of Chief Dan Orbih relating to the Edo State Governorship Primary Election of our great Party which actions and utterances are inconsistent with the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017) and the demand of his office as a national officer of the Party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsequently, the NWC has set up a six-member committee headed by the Deputy National Chairman (South) Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, to investigate the issue pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of the Party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the meantime, the NWC forthwith suspends Chief Dan Orbih from participating in all meetings, activities and programs of the NWC pending the conclusion of an investigation by the Committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NWC acknowledges the support and solidarity of the overwhelming majority of the people of Edo State who are rallying with our Party and Candidate, Dr Asue Ighodalo, whose vision is in tandem with the Will and aspiration of the people for continued massive development of the State on the platform of the PDP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe NWC charges all leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of our Party in Edo State to remain united, focused and continue to work hard for the victory of our Party and Candidate in the September 21, 2024 Governorship election in Edo State.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About Nigeria Follow Africa-Press<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
