Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has been handed a suspended 12-month prison sentence after he was found guilty of abandoning his family for over two years.<\/p>\n

Le Parisien reports Evra\u2019s sentence was confirmed by the Nanterre prosecutor\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

The 43-year-old allegedly owes \u20ac969,000 in unpaid alimony.<\/p>\n

Evra is said to have abandoned Sandra Evra and their two kids between May 1, 2021 and September 28, 2023.<\/p>\n

The 12-month sentence has, however, been suspended for two years, but the former France international has been ordered to pay his wife \u20ac4,000 for moral damages and \u20ac2,000 for legal costs.<\/p>\n

Evra has launched an appeal against the decision, with his lawyer, Jerome Boursican, claiming \u201cthe facts are disputed\u201d by his client.<\/p>\n
