Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A chieftain of the People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP) and the 2023 House of Representatives aspirant for Ezza North\/Ishielu Federal Constituency, Ebonyi State, Kenneth Akobundu Nweke, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n

Nweke led thousands of his supporters into the ruling party in the state.<\/p>\n

He previously served as Special Assistant to former Enugu Governor Sullivan Chime on Project Monitoring.<\/p>\n

Explaining his defection, Akobundu stated that he was drawn to the APC due to the people-oriented policies and programs of Governor Francis Nwifuru.<\/p>\n

Nweke added that he cannot remain in opposition while the governor is running an inclusive administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe, the leadership of the PDP in Ebonyi State, have resolved to collapse all our structures into the APC to become one political family,\u201d Akobundu said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are moving to the APC to support the governor for the good work he is doing in the state and to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to improve governance for the benefit of all Nigerians.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the challenges facing the state and the nation, we believe that our support for the president and our governor will drive progress. The people of Ebonyi State have decided to unite under one family, which is the APC. This is why we are joining the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition to our full structure, we are bringing the knowledge we have acquired over the years to the APC to help the party succeed where there are gaps,\u201d Akobundu added.<\/p>\n
