Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Osun State Police Command has revealed that two persons were rescued in the building that collapsed in the Sabo area of Osogbo, the state capital.<\/p>\n

In a statement by the command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, on Monday, he disclosed that during rescue operations mounted by security agencies, it was discovered that only two persons were trapped under the rubble of the one-storey building.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST reported that a one-storey building collapsed on Sunday morning, July 14, 2024, around the Sabo area of Osogbo.<\/p>\n

Governor Ademola Adeleke had in a reaction through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, warned developers and residents against construction of houses without approved building plans.<\/p>\n

The initial report on the number of trapped victims was not certain as the spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in the state, Adeleke Kehinde gave the figure at five persons.<\/p>\n

She said, \u201cThe said building collapsed at about 07:30 hrs today Sunday, 14th July, 2024 entrapping 5 people.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwo people have been rescued so far while the remaining three are entrapped under the decking that requires the use of a crane.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adeleke also added that the command had earlier, in a report dated June 10, warned that the building that was being used as a hiding place by hoodlums was a threat to the people in the area.<\/p>\n

She said, \u201cThe building we reported was an eyesore, and we recommended raiding by the task force and the environmental body to sanitise it.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the Nigeria police said out of the two persons rescued, one sustained visible injuries while the other was uninjured.<\/p>\n

In Opalola\u2019s words, \u201cPart of the rescue activities of the victims of the collapsed building at Sabo area of Osogbo today by the Osun State government. Amotekun led by one Asiwaju were also there.<\/p>\n

\u201cFinally, it was discovered that only two (2) persons were trapped and rescued. One sustained no visible injury while the other that sustained injury is responding to treatment in the hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n
