{"id":125027,"date":"2024-07-21T11:56:09","date_gmt":"2024-07-21T10:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/trending-bandits-video-zamfara-group-warns-govt-officials-over-bello-turjis-claims"},"modified":"2024-07-21T13:05:25","modified_gmt":"2024-07-21T12:05:25","slug":"trending-bandits-video-zamfara-group-warns-govt-officials-over-bello-turjis-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/trending-bandits-video-zamfara-group-warns-govt-officials-over-bello-turjis-claims","title":{"rendered":"Trending bandits video: Zamfara group warns govt officials over Bello Turji\u2019s claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Zamfara Conscience Movement (ZCM) has warned that there must not be an apparent close relationship between the government officials and notorious bandits and criminal gangs operating in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The group noted that these bandits and criminals have devastated the state and neighboring areas in the North-West region.<\/p>\n<p>This was following the emergence of a video clip featuring Bello Turji, a prominent bandit leader.<\/p>\n<p>In the clip, Turji openly criticised the Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle.<\/p>\n<p>ZCM said it finds it highly improbable that such bold statements could have been made without governmental support.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement signed by ZCM Chairman Sahabi Lawali, the movement highlighted a prior video showing hooded armed bandits confessing to having ties with government officials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese disturbing revelations, coupled with Turji\u2019s audacious declarations, suggest a worrying trend of collusion between the current administration and criminal groups,\u201d the group said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis tactic undermines the rule of law, erodes the ethical foundations of our political process, and jeopardizes the safety and well-being of our citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lawali said it is no wonder that the security situation in Zamfara State has significantly deteriorated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lack of action from Governor Lawal in addressing these frequent invasions is disappointing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is time for Governor Lawal to shift his attention from political squabbles to the pressing issue of security in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCooperating with the federal government\u2019s effort in addressing the root causes of these attacks and implementing effective measures to prevent future invasions should be the main focus of the government,\u201d Lawali said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About Nigeria Follow Africa-Press<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
