Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has condemned the bombing of the Action Peoples Party, APP, secretariat in Rivers State.<\/p>\n

The Council called on President Bola Tinubu to take a decisive action and bring the perpetrators to justice.<\/p>\n

IPAC, in a statement signed by Mrs Chinyere Kalu, its National Publicity Secretary, strongly condemned the attack which occurred in the early hours of Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis heinous act has not only caused panic and terrorized peaceful residents but also threatened the fragile political stability of our nation,\u201d the Council said.<\/p>\n

As the umbrella body of all political parties in Nigeria, IPAC, said it was deeply troubled by the escalating trend of political violence and terrorism.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take swift and decisive action to address this menace, which poses a significant threat to our democratic values and national security.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bombing of APP\u2019s Secretariat is a brazen attack on democracy, the rule of law, and the very fabric of our society.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a stark reminder that political extremism and terrorism can undermine our two and a half decades of unbroken democracy, emboldening those who seek to destroy our nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis Bombing cannot be unconnected with desperate politicians seeking control of all the political structures in the state and are not ready for an alternative view and vibrant opposition.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese reactionary elements should allow democracy to strive in the state and should not see politics as a do or die venture.<\/p>\n

\u201cIPAC warns that any form of terrorism in the federation can be exploited by criminal elements to further their ill-conceived agenda. Therefore, we implore President Tinubu to direct security agencies to:<\/p>\n

\u201cConduct a thorough investigation into the bombing; Identify and prosecute the perpetrators; Take proactive measures to prevent future attacks,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n

The Council further called on \u201call political parties, stakeholders, and Nigerians to: condemn this act of violence; promote peace, unity, and democratic values; support the government\u2019s efforts to combat political extremism and terrorism\u201d.<\/p>\n
