Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Edo Queens emerged winners of the 2024 WAFU CAF Women\u2019s Champions League title following a comfortable 3-0 win against Benin Republic\u2019s Ainonvi FC in the final on Friday.<\/p>\n

Moses Aduku\u2019s side struggled to break down their opponent early in the game.<\/p>\n

The Nigerian champions however went into the break with a 1-0 lead courtesy of captain Suliat Abideeen\u2019s fine finish.<\/p>\n

The second half was also keenly contested but enterprising forward Emem Essien doubled Edo Queens lead on the hour mark.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth Ukandu\u2019s own goal 14 minutes from time put the game totally beyond Ainonvi FC.<\/p>\n

Edo Queens make history as the first Nigerian club to win five consecutive matches on the continent.<\/p>\n

The Benin City club also entered the history books as the second Nigerian club to win the competition after Bayelsa Queens in 2022.<\/p>\n

They will compete in the CAF Women\u2019s Champions League as reward for winning the regional title.<\/p>\n
